Séverin Marchand
Mountain Guide

My name is Séverin Marchand, originally from the Jura, I moved to the valley in 2004 to work as a mountain guide.

In 2007 I started to build this self-built house in order to create a healthy and environmentally friendly living space. The minimal use of concrete, the recycling of an old 19th century framework, the use of monomur bricks and wood wool for the insulation give the place a reassuringly warm and cosy atmosphere.

Even back then I relied on renewable energy sources such as wood and the sun for hot water and heating.

There is something special here. Facing the mountains, not overlooked, the large windows connect you with the atmosphere outside. Sometimes the fog gives the impression that the house is floating in the clouds.

Sharing this experience by welcoming you to Chalet Akène is a pleasure for me every time. It is therefore quite natural that I propose to guide you to the discovery of these mountains that the eye never ceases to embrace as soon as one arrives here.
